Brakes won't hold

1. Contaminated lining. Replace lining.
2. Improper conditioning of brake linings.
3. Linings worn below minimum wear limits.
4. Discs worn below minimum wear limits.
5. Incorrect lining or disk.
6. Insufficient hydraulic pressure. See symptom #1.
7. Organic brake lining carburized (overheated). Replace lining.

Metallic Linings

Metallic linings use a pin instead of a rivet.

Backs of Rapco linings are zinc chromate primed for corrosion protection. Cleveland is bare steel.

Organic Linings

Organic linings are riveted onto backplate. Notice holes go all the way through on the organic lining


8. Pressure plate contacting torque plate assembly. Check for correct torque plate/wheel installation.
