High fuel pressure on Continental C series or O-200 engine

1. Crack in fuel pump dome due to installation of incorrect fuel pump or camshaft. Fuel pump 40585 uses camshaft 628421. If the 40585 fuel pump is used with the 643067 (626608) camshaft that incorporates a 630403 gear and eccentric then the eccentric causes too much pump lever travel. Fuel pressure may be too high, the fuel pump lever arm may break, or the excessive travel may cause a crack in the fuel pump dome. This crack will leak oil and if the piece falls out drain the engine of oil. Reference Continental Service Bulletin M76-15 that is applicable to the O200 A engine. This problem is also applicable to the Continental C90 engine.
