Fuel stains on outside of carburetor in Continental or Lycoming aircraft engine

1. Spring in carburetor check valve broken. Results in rich mixture and a stain on the side of the carburetor where excessive fuel drips from the accelerator pump nozzle and washing against the side of the aircraft carburetor.
