High EGT on takeoff on Continental and Lycoming aircraft engine . Slight roughness

1. Takeoff fuel flow too lean. On carbureted engine check fuel nozzle.

2. Intake air leak.

3. Mooney M20B M20C and Piper Cherokee B and Comanche 180 check to see if carburetor has been modified per obsolete Lycoming Service Instruction 1061A (obsolete in June of 1970 per SSP 270). This modification changes the 10-3878 to a richer 10-3878-M setting. Marvel Schebler Service Bulletin A11-62 outlines the procedures required to make this modification. Carburetor 10-4164-1 is identical in flow characteristics to the 10-3878-M field conversion setting and requires no further change.

4. Incorrect carburetor.

5. Continental fuel injector, low fuel pressure.

6. Partially plugged fuel nozzle.

7. Improper engine timing.
