Aircraft Carburetor is too rich

1. Defective one-piece venturi. The installation of the one piece venturi can increase the sensitivity of the main fuel nozzle and alter its fuel atomization characteristics. This condition results in engine roughness with an apparent rich mixture. For Continental O-200 engine with carburetor p/n 10-4898 or 10-4115-1 reference Precision Fuel Systems Service Bulletin MSA-7 dated 10/11/94

 2. Improper installation of venturi

 3. Leaking primer system.

 4. Improperly adjusted float

 5. Leaking bowl gasket.

 6. Improper installation of the fuel nozzle.

The carburetor is extremely sensitive to the shape and surface texture of the venturi. A slight nick at the venturi edge is enough to cause turbulence at the metering jet.
