Fluctuating EGT

1. Faulty gauge or wire. Mechanical EGT gauges such as the Alcor gauges, which are 20 plus years old may stick. Alcor will repair these units. There's no need to buy a new one. Fairly common occurrence on older EGT systems. Any malfunction of the EGT system will cause a decrease in EGT reading. Sometimes a new probe may overcome a bad gauge for awhile.
