Bent push rod in Continental or Lycoming aircraft engine. Bent pushrod

bent lycoming push rod from stuck valve

1. Stuck valve. See symptom "stuck valve". Note: Valve may not be stuck now but may have been stuck previously when the push rod bent. Most typically it is the exhaust push rod that bends.

2. Broken exhaust valve. Valve train damage can interfere with rocker arm motion. Inspect push rod and hydraulic lifter after any valve train trauma.

3. Broken rocker boss.

4. Severely stuck valve hydraulic lifter.

5. Lycoming "76" series engines such as the O-320 H2AD engines, pulled or loose rocker shaft stud.
