Aircraft oil sampling - Metal in aircraft oil filter - steel

Particles can be isolated by means of the permanent magnet. On Continental aircraft engines with a starter adapter possibly the starter adapter spring has wound off the drum and is scoring the steel flange creating cut shavings. Do not fly aircraft until problem is identified and a determination of aircraft airworthiness is made.
