What is Tefzel

Tefzel is a teflon variation that is used in aircraft wire insulation because of its excellent temperature and chemical resistance. It is also used as a clear coating on flexible PV (solar cell) panels.


What wire size should I use

This is a complicated subject and I would direct you to the Maintenance Manual or FAR43.13B Acceptable Methods and Practices has devoted several pages, charts, and formulas to this subject.

Maximum voltage rating: 600
Rated Wire Temperature: 150 degrees C
Insulation type: Fluoropolymer insulated extruded ETFE
Conductor type: Tin coated copper

What wire type should I use in my piston powered aircraft
 

The aircraft manufacturer's maintenance manual should list the approved wire for your aircraft.

In addition FAR 43.13B Section 11 gives some guidelines:

For signal and power currents, excluding special purpose wires such as thermocouples, etc., Wires meeting MIL-W-22759/16 meet CFR14 flammability requirements.

For severe wind and moisture problems (such as wheel wells, flap areas), suitable wire per FAR43.13B is MIL-W-22759.

Suitable wire types for areas bending and flexing of wire is MIL-W-22759 per FAR43.13B
