Aircraft Maintenance TroubleShoot > Aircraft Muffler

Flame tube importance

1. Flame tubes provide correct flame propagation. Correct flame propagation is needed so that outer shell temperatures are adequate for carburetor heat.
2. Flame tubes prevent heat concentration. This helps reduce outer shell distortion.
3. Deteriorated flame tubes can possibly obstruct exit tubes causing reduced performance and in some models complete engine failure.
