Slow cranking speed

See Sluggish start

1. Poor ground or electrical connection. See Voltage drop as a troubleshooting aid

Poor electrical connections will get warm when the starter current passes thru. Carefully feel the battery terminal
post and see if it is hot or warm. Heat is caused by resistance - clean the connections and try again.

 2. Tight engine.

 3. Low battery voltage or capacity. If the starter is sluggish when it is hot out then suspect batter cables or solenoid problems. If the starter is sluggish when it is cold out then suspect the battery.
