How do I measure aircraft hose length

Aircraft hoses with female internal 37 degree flare fittings are measured from tip of flare to tip of flare. With hoses with angle fittings you measure by drawing a line across the center of the flare and measure from this point. Generally, the shorter the hose the more accurate your measurement needs to be.

Should I have my hoses firesleeved

Hoses within the firezone (within the engine compartment) should be protected from fire and excessive heat. Particular care should be made when hoses are routed close or adjacent to the hot exhaust system. Some airplanes were originally equipped without firesleeved hoses and you may encounter installation problems when trying to install firesleeved hoses. For this reason you should consult the latest recommendations of the aircraft manufacturer for final determination.
