Cessna T206, T210 1966-19681. Dual absolute/rate control system. 2. Low mounted turbos. Scavenged oil system with check valves on inlet and scavenge return lines. 3. The rate/absolute dual controller performs the functions of both the rate controller and the absolute pressure controller. Components serving the separate functions are housed in a common body and capillary assembly with shared sensing and hydraulic ports. The fixed absolute controller portion of the dual controller hydraulically regulates the wastegate opening for all engine power settings from sea level to altitude. The controller senses deck pressure, compares it to a reference absolute pressure, adjusts the wastegate butterfly (controlling turbo speed) to maintain sea-level horsepower at varying altitudes. The rate controller portion of the dual controller senses deck pressure and acts to prevent excessive increase in the turbocharger air pressure. Thus, when a too-rapid throttle advance (more then 6.5 in/sec) causes an excessive rate of change in deck pressure, the controller overrides the absolute pressure controls and opens the wastegate butterfly and slows the compressor, lowering deck pressure and preventing overboost. If fitted, a pressure relief valve, set slightly in excess of maximum deck pressure is provided to prevent damaging overboost in the event of a system malfunction.
