Aircraft Maintenance TroubleShoot > Aircraft Turbocharger & Controller Piper Aztec C/D1. Fixed absolute pressure system.2. Low mounted turbos with scavenge pump, inlet check valve, and oil-out accumulator. 3. On C models only a transfer valve is used to allow sensing of manifold pressure rather than deck pressure at near to full- throttle settings for climb and cruise power. This permits lower turbo speeds, less back-pressure, more power and economy. 4. The fixed absolute pressure controller hydraulically
regulates the wastegate opening for all engine power settings from sea
level to altitude. The controller senses deck pressure, compares it to
a reference absolute pressure, and adjusts the wastegate butterfly (controlling
turbo speed) to maintain sea- level horsepower at various altitudes.
